Hi Bo. What about the Nakba in 1948? How did this come about?

I'm not sure if this is a genuine question. If it is, I'll refer you to the Gabor Mate post linked above. I've written about this extensively over the last few weeks; Gabor Mate also talked about the Nakba in the interview I transcribed. Yitzak Rabin wrote about it in his biography, which was censured by the Israeli government; he subsequently recounted it to David Shipler, who wrote about it in his Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "Arab and Jew." (I referenced this in my previous columns. Shipler discussed this in a very recent episode of the New York Times podcast "The Daily, called "1948." According to him, many Israeli soldiers who forcibly expelled the Palestinians had to receive counseling afterward because it was so violent; some actually refused to carry out their orders. But others did so with impunity.) And this is available in Khalidi's and Said's work, linked above, and all the resources, many Israeli (Norm Finkelstein, Gideon Levy, etc.) on the Gabor Mate page. And you can Google it, too, and read about it, which I'd highly recommend. It is a tremendous source of epigenetic trauma for most Palestinians.
